Intrinsic Movement grew from a period when I was fascinated by the natural behavior of paint—how colors move, meet, blend, and transform without being completely controlled.
Set against a dark background, multiple small circles made from yarn create a textured foundation for layers of dripping paint. Primary colors move across the canvas alongside black and white, naturally meeting and mixing as they travel. The contrast between the dimensional yarn and fluid paint brings together two materials that behave very differently on the canvas.
This piece is about allowing the materials to participate in the creative process. Instead of controlling every outcome, I wanted to observe what happened when gravity, color, texture, and movement were given space to interact. Intrinsic Movement captures that curiosity and the beauty of discovering what materials can do when they are allowed to move and interact freely.
